Simply Asia – Roasted Peanut Noodle Bowl
Saw these on sale at the grocery store this week so I thought I’d give them a try as a lunch candidate – for $2 a piece, not a bad deal.
What it is: Its a little self-contained kit, comes with a bowl (with a real lid!), fork, vacuum packed pre-cooked noodles, a sauce packet, and multiple seasoning packets.
How you cook it: Wow, 2 Tablespoons of water, mix, and microwave for 2 minutes.
How did it taste: Actually, pretty dang good. I like it and would buy it again. Kind of the sweet peanut sauce with a little bit of spice, the noodles were surprisingly tender.
How bad is it for me: Ummm… So-so to not-so-good I initially thought it was pretty ok, then realized that one bowl constitutes 2 servings - that was kind of a disappointment.
Total run-down for one bowl (so two servings) – worth noting, the online nutritional information for this product is dramatically different than what is printed on the package – so there’s some guesswork here for accuracy…
- Calories 680
- Total Fat 12g
- Sodium 1080 mg
- Dietary Fiber 6g
Portion Size: One bowl with a moderate sized beverage is filling.
But overall, yummy, although it may not be a routine staple with the current nutritional info.
